Honestly i don't see why it would be so hard to create a game like that. Imagine all those troops that you have in your army would actually mean something now, instead of just trying to get the largest army possible (because currently that is all that matters), you will actually tailor your army towards certain troops types, and be able to use real tactics! It would be a dream game, I would give my left nut for a game like that. Imagine the role playing, not only do you get to control your dynasty, but actually use them in battle as well. I think it would be an awesome game, something spectacular.
But even if the battles were like total war, I wouldnt complain. Mount and blade battles are more fun, because you actually get to fight.
